Cosmetic acupuncture (also know as Beauty acupuncture or facial rejuvenation acupuncture) has become very popular in the last few years. Cosmetic acupuncture is often described as the natural alternative to botox and surgery. Acupuncture points are selected on your body to help improve your internal metabolism and cleansing the skin from within. Acupuncture points on the face stimulate the local tissues increasing production and dispersal of collagen and elastin, this helps to eliminate fine lines and diminishing larger wrinkles. The insertion of acupuncture needles also increases the blood circulation to the face helping to give you a healthy glow with a lovely even complexion. The increased blood circulation and production of elastin also help to tone the facial muscles and lift the face.
Our practitioner, Alex Owen, has a great deal of experience in cosmetic acupuncture helping many women and men feel and look better. Alex has even treated a group of researchers from Wella, so you can be sure you will be in safe and professional hands.
What does a cosmetic acupuncture treatment involve?
While you lay back and relax acupuncture points are selected on the body and face. After the needles are retained for 30 minutes, they are removed.

Does it really work?
Yes it really does work! Acupuncture stimulates the flow of blood, qi and nutrients to the face, energizing cellular rejuvination and production of elastin and collagen. It tightens the fibres which lift the facial tissue, the result is tighter muscle tone, less facial stress and a more rested, relaxed and a younger looking face.
Research has shown that acupuncture stimulates the flow of blood and energy through the skin in the face, thereby hydrating, boosting the skin's supply of nutrients and oxygen and thus reducing the signs of ageing. In 1996 the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that among 300 cases treated with cosmetic acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment.
Famous celebrities who are reported to have used facial rejuvenation acupuncture are: Angelina Jolie, Sean Connery, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and many more.
How many treatments do I need?
Some clients chose to receive the treatment for one off occations such as presentations or parties but for long lasting results a course of treatment is recommended which can be maintained afterwards with less frequent top up treatments. An initial course will be between 7-12 treatments depending each client individual case, top up treatments again are judged on and individual basis and preference.
