National Breastfeeding Awareness Week
Due to the success of the project on the Whittington labour ward some of the Whittington Hospital staff approached Asante Academy to see if they could help promote the importance on breastfeeding.
Alex was more than happy to supply his services to help raise money for breastfeeding support for mothers on Whittington’s wards.
Alex provided traditional Chinese massage, known as Tuina, and acupressure treatments. At only £2 each treatment the opportunity to try something new and relaxing was eagerly taken up by staff and patients alike.
The manager, Paul Haynes, from Asante also came along to provide his support in the form of Reiki treatments.
Between the two of them they provided nearly 50 treatments throughout the course of the day, with all proceeds given to the unit to help promote breastfeeding awareness.
Patients and staff were also able to enter a raffle, play games and receive information on the importance and benefits of breastfeeding. With the great response a total £240 was raised on the day.
