Our Treatments

Traditional Chinese Medicine has a long history stretching back many thousands of years. It is a complete medical system built from a variety of synergistic treatments that aim to restore your physical, mental and emotional health.

A skilled practitioner combines these different therapies to treat the specific issues each patient presents with, to form a tailor-made treatment each session.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the most recognisable TCM treatment in the UK. Although an ancient modality it is increasingly found within the NHS, offering support for long term pain conditions, fertility, maternity and much more.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of exceptionally fine needles into specific points on your body. From a traditional perspective the stimulation of these points helps to regulate the circulation of energy around your body, returning it to it’s healthy state. Western science understands that by inserting the needles nerve activity can be sedated, hormones released from the brain, circulation promoted and inflammation cleared.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine supports your acupuncture treatments by continuing the work on your health between treatments. Herbal medicines are combined in to formulas specific to your health, aimed at reinforcing the work already started during your acupuncture treatments.

Herbal medicines are dispensed as either tablets or granules, which can be dissolved in water and consumed like a tea. All herbal medicine provided are entirely plant based.

Moxibustion

Is most often used in the treatment of pain conditions and is very effective at boosting energy levels.

Cupping

Small glass, or rubber ‘cups’ are placed over specific locations. The cups may stay in one location to greatly boost circulation to the area or moved across the skin in a form of massage therapy. Most often used in pain treatments and particularly effective in releasing muscle tension.

Tuina

Tuina is a traditional Chinese massage that utilises the acupuncture points and meridians. A very strong form of massage that has amazing effects, boosting circulation and eliminating muscle tension. Most often used for sports injuries, pain and stress conditions.

Ear Acupuncture

Tiny needles are inserted into the outer ear. These points can be used to supplement the main treatment or add an extra level of effectiveness because of these points control over craving and addiction. Most often encountered in weight loss, smoking cessation and addiction treatments. The points also have a strong effect on hormone levels and are often found as part of IVF support treatments.

Electro-Acupuncture

A device, similar to a TENs machine, is connected to the needles and delivers a small electrical charge. This stimulation helps regulate nerve activity and is most commonly used in the treatment of pain conditions helping to control pain and improve recovery time.

Diet Therapy

Chinese medicine has a very specific way of understanding how foods interact with the body. By using this traditional understanding Alex can advise you on food groups which can be used to promote the effectiveness your treatments.
